Pine Ridge Indian Reservation Itinerary

October 1^st – October 5^th, 2009

^{Day 1 – Thursday}

9:00 am – 11:30 am	PV Basics	Overview of the photovoltaic concept, common terms, and PV history
11:30 am – 12:30 pm	Lunch
12:30 pm – 4:00 pm	Electricity Basics	Overview of watts, amps, volts and Ohm’s Law

Day 2 – Friday

9:00 am – 10:30 am	Tools/Materials	Overview of the tools and materials necessary to complete the job. Compare a wood framed panel to an encapsulated/aluminum framed panel
10:30 am – 11:30 am	Measuring frame materials	Adding to the PV and Electricity Basics we will determine the dimensions for our panel and begin construction
11:30 am – 12:30 pm	Lunch
12:30 pm – 4:00 pm	Panel Construction	Build the frames for the panels

Day 3 – Saturday

9:00 am – 11:30 am	Wiring cells	Begin wiring and soldering of solar cells
11:30 am – 12:30 pm	Lunch
12:30 pm – 2:30 pm	Soldering cells	Finish soldering of solar cells
2:30 pm – 4:00pm	Cutting broken cells	Overview of cutting and wiring of broken cells

Day 4 – Sunday

9:00 am – 11:30 am	Encapsulant	Encapsulant preparation and pouring onto cells
11:30 am – 12:30 pm	Lunch
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm	Encapsulant	Check front of panels for air bubbles, reset press
2:00 pm – 4:30 pm	Components	Overview of solar systems components and how to wire them together

Day 5 – Monday

9:00 am – 11:30 am	Site Analysis	Solar site survey methods, best practices
11:30 am – 12:30 pm	Lunch
12:30 pm – 4:00 pm	Panel Construction	Finish panel construction and wire the junction box. Test in sun!
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm	Wrap Up	Summary, Questions
